Already five years ago we started developing The.Plaid Original. We were looking for a product that fits well with The.Lampion, our beautifully lit wine cooler with bluetooth speaker, would fit. A product you use outside while enjoying your chilled wine and your own music. Since summer evenings in the Netherlands are not always tropical, we thought a nice blanket would be a good addition. And because we love combining stylish products with sophisticated technology, it had to be a heated blanket.

It was a search for the right technology and the softest fabric in beautiful natural shades. Moreover, it was a requirement that the blanket could be used for at least an entire evening. After many adjustments, we finally introduced The.Plaid Original as it can now be found on our website. A beautiful infrared heating blanket, so primarily intended for outdoors.

The introduction

What started with an idea in 2019 brought us the introduction of The.Plaid Original. After producing several prototypes, by listening carefully to our customers' feedback and translating it into improvements, we brought a product that not only provided durable warmth, but also was so well liked in softness and user-friendliness that even heat cushions like The.Wrap and The.Pillow could be introduced. Even loyal four-legged friends were considered.

Energy crisis
The energy crisis in 2022 brought a whole new light to The.Plaid Original. Suddenly, it was gratefully employed as a sustainability tool to cut energy costs somewhat. Use of the blanket shifted indoors. How happy we are that we were able to give many a small helping hand with this.
